A journey ends.

CatMatt have spent close to two years hunting for a hutch for their dining room - something old, something simple, something capable of display on top and storage on bottom, something that wouldn't require financing. They searched every furniture store, antique store, and flea market in the county (and then some) plus a few local auctions. This weekend, the journey ended when they found the following hutch/pie safe (no, those holes are not for a sound system, dear inquiring neighbor) at a tiny little antique shop near their house ... and for a steal. What a joy to own another piece of furniture that did not require assembly, to have another place to put things ... and to rediscover beautiful wedding gifts that (formerly) had no home. Ah.

Summer f-u-n.

Dear blog, readers,
CatMatt apologize for neglecting you. We're just running around having fun. Now, a sampling of photos documenting some of our goings on the last month or so...

The Fiddlers' Gathering is an annual event in CatMatt's hometown. It's a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy hanging out in beautiful spots in the woods, bluegrass and/or oldschool country music, and festival food. An enjoyable combo, say CatMatt.

CatMatt enjoyed a weekend escpape to Indianapolis, where they explored downtown, enjoyed fabulous food and drink (including some at wonderful cigar bar and lounge spot, Nicky Blaine's seen below), walked the riverwalk, and saw the sights.

The first of two morning doves who have nested in the hanging baskets on our front porch:

This, by the way, was cute only the first time ... last year.

Fireworks and hanging with in-laws, out-laws, and fabulous nieces and nephews in KC for 4th of July.

A happy reunion weekend at CatMatt's place with John, Caitlin, and Laura:

Dear friends and family,
If you ever see photos of you or your family that you prefer were not on this blog, just let us know, and we'll be happy to take them down ASAP.
Love,
CatMatt
