Organic gardening can be tough, especially early in the season when getting things going. This year, it sorta seemed like every rabbit, slug, or beetle in Indiana was set on making a home and meal out of CatMatt's garden. At this stage in the game, the garden's winning. Here's what worked:
- for slugs: diatomaceous earth (heard beer traps work; this crazy stuff works even better)
- for rabbits: chicken wire (they climbed through and under the "rabbit-proof fence" and Liquid Fence was ... well ... not for the faint of heart, or stomach)
- for bean beetles: diluted cedar oil (marigolds also help - if the bunnies don't eat them)
The garden a month after planting ...
