The bathroom refresh continues ...

CatMatt continue their attempt to spiff up the master bath, this time by painting vanities and cabinets.

The bathroom when they bought the place:

Then, with paint and new light fixtures:

And then, the cabinets project:

At last, all put back together:

Now, new counter tops and fixtures?
(sigh).

Ah, orange.

After:

Cat has gradually developed a somewhat obsessive (and potentially expensive) love for rugs in recent months. This is CatMatt's first big one, purchased at auction over the weekend:

Seriously, Cat had no idea she was capable of adoring a floor covering so much.

Composition.

CatMatt cleaned out their garden over the weekend:

It was sad - and there were tons of tomatoes that didn't have a chance:

With all the leftovers, CatMatt decided to get some compost started. A pretty interesting process. First, they bought trashcans and drilled holes in them:

Then, they layered dry stuff (dead plants, leaves, dry grass) with green stuff (pumpkin, tomatoes, weeds) and black stuff (composted manure, soil), and watered:

Every week or so, they'll roll the trashcans to shake things up, and they'll add things like more dry leaves, veggie scraps, and coffee grinds. Hopefully, within the next year or two (!) they'll have loads of nutritious compost for their garden... :)

Fall-icious.

Catmatt's street is so lovely in the fall. From their front yard:

Anny pt deux.

CatMatt celebrated their second wedding anniversary with a day off of work and an escape to Louisville. This year they checked out some new spots, like ... the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky:

Side note: Cat's Grandma Tali has affectionately referred to Cat and her siblings and cousins as "schinckel fritzes" for as long as Cat can remember. After stumbling across the following image in a Jim Beam exhibit, Cat became puzzled - and curious:

Some adventures without photos include a tasty lunch and fabulous bloody mary at Cat's favorite Louisville cafe, sipping mint juleps and listening to jazz at the Seelbach Hotel (of Gatsby fame), antique shopping (without buying), and strolling through the Highlands.
